Manu Adventures 5 Days
1st Day Cusco - Villa Salvacion

​

At 11:00 local time Cusco in local public service minivan, after nearly 4 hours of travel, you reach the Acjanaco Pass, 3650 m.s.n.m, with the start of the Manu Biosphere Reserve Cultural Zone Cultural Zone and the Amazonian basin and passes through the last wall of the Andes that we will leave behind. Our trip continues through the only accessible road to the lower Amazon forest passing through the dense "wet forest" area characterized by a thick layer of clouds that create a high degree of constant humidity and is therefore an ideal habitat for plants such as the Bromeliaceae.

In this environment live Peruvian rupees, bears from glasses, orchids, fern trees (one of the oldest plants in the world), musk and lichen. We continue our journey on a narrow road, side by side with waterfalls and canyon where we can see monkeys, palms, in addition to medicinal plants. We will find ourselves immersed in local plantations such as Coca, Pineapple, Yucca. Finally, we will cross small villages, arriving in the evening to our destination where they will eat and spend the night.

 

Day 2 Reserve Cocha Machuwasi - Field "Maloca Aguanos"


Wake up to the early lights of the dawn and with a walk for a couple of hours you will visit the lagoon of Machuwasi, considered the first navigable lake of Rio Alto Madre de Dios along 280 meters 80 meters wide with a depth of 2.5 Meters in its highest part. Once people get to the lake, it is possible to admire the wildlife that inhabits the lagoon by learning to know it. Everyone will be able to observe a great variety of birds such as hoatzin, white heron, squirrel, woodpecker, sparrows and cardinals, fish and if we are lucky some mammals, indigenous plants including some rare as heliconia, we will also know the properties Of medicinal plants. Returning to the village an abundant typical breakfast will be served and finally head to the Salvacion River to make a refreshing bath. After lunch we will head to the "Maloca Aguanos" field where we are making a garden of medicinal plants, we will discuss issues of local agriculture and indigenous medicine. We will have direct contact with coca plants, uña de gato, sangre de drago, san pedro, ayahuasca and chacruna. After dinner we will take a night walk to listen to the wonderful music of nature by watching frogs, tarantas, caimans and insects. Overnight in tent.

3rd Day Salvacion - Campo "Teparo" Cultural Zone


This morning we will wake up very soon and after a half-hour walk we will take a motorcycle launch, we will fly about half an hour to the Madre de Dios River, then start a half-hour walk to the "Teparo" Field, Private Reserve Located in the Cultural Zone of Manu National Park. We will have breakfast and continue our walk to the "Ccollpa" place where tapiras, capibara, wild pigs, birds gather to feed on clay, these are fed with clay from which they assimilate minerals and important salts that facilitate the digestion of seeds and fruits. For lunch, we will return to the Field and in the afternoon we will bathe in the Teparo River. In the evening we will take a walk to observe different types of amphibians and an incredible variety of insects. Overnight in tent.

 

4th Day Field "Teparo" Cultural Zone - Shintuya Native community


After breakfast we will fly about three hours, the mother river de dios to head to Shintuya, Harambok native community, to know local people their traditions and cultures. We will continue with the lance to the hotel run by a community family, with a natural thermal water pool, bath and lunch. In the afternoon we will take a walk to reach a waterfall with a natural pool. Dinner and rest.


Day 5 Return to Cusco


After breakfast we will arrive to Shintua to take the local bus that will take us to Salvacion village where we will take the local public service minivan that will take us back to Cusco.
